Online exams can be taken in a private room in your residence or a private space where you are alone in the room (it is quiet, there is no talking in the background, no other people in the room or walking by, etc.) The candidate applies and pays for the exam with ICML and then will be directed to the online testing platform to establish a customer profile and confirm a time/date for the exam session. At the scheduled time/date, the candidate will log back into the online platform to take the exam, which will be monitored by a live, remote proctor.

- Online exams require a desktop computer or laptop (not a tablet, Chromebooks or cell phone) connected to a power source (not using battery power)
- You must have a working webcam, microphone, and speakers (all built-in or external) that remain on throughout the exam. Computer system requirements can be checked with this link: https://prod.examity.com/systemcheck/check.aspx
- Internet speed must be at least 2 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload; hot spots are not recommended; VPN turned off. (You can determine your Internet speed by running a test at http://www.speedtest.net)

A paper exam is administered in the physical presence of a proctor, at a location that meets the approval of ICML. Most paper exams are conducted in group settings following classroom-style training courses that have been scheduled in advance by plant managers or training companies, so they are usually listed in our exam calendar. However, we can also arrange for private, proctored, paper exam sessions.

- Apply for paper exams two weeks in advance of the exam date.
- You must take the exam on paper in a controlled environment approved by ICML.
- An approved proctor must be physically present.
